JAIPUR: Congress workers on Thursday marched towards the BJP state headquarters to protest alleged “irregularities” in the NEET UG medical examination. Police stopped the protesters at barricades, used water cannons to disperse the crowd, and detained several participants.Carrying posters and placards, the protesters led by Pradesh Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.Police used water cannons to disperse the protesters and stopped them at the Shaheed Smarak. Several party workers climbed barricades and attempted to cross them.Addressing party workers ahead of the march, Dotasra alleged that repeated irregularities in the NEET examination had eroded public trust in the National Testing Agency (NTA).“The NTA should be dissolved and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign,” he said.Dotasra said the Central government could not evade responsibility in the matter and demanded strict action against those involved in the alleged paper leak.He also called for the CBI investigation into the case to be conducted under court supervision.“’NEET Ka Paper Kaha Milega, BJP Tere Baade Mein’… The BJP is not giving answers and instead wants to divert attention by making Rahul Gandhi the issue. Even on social media, they allege that BJP pays people to post in its favour despite the NEET paper leak, ” said Congress leader Pratap Khachariyawas.The Congress claimed that the futures of nearly 22 lakh students had been affected due to the alleged leak.The NEET (UG) exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses, held on May 3, was cancelled two days later amid allegations of a paper leak.The government has ordered a comprehensive CBI inquiry into the alleged “irregularities.”(With agency inputs)
