Hyderabad: City police commissioner VC Sajjanar has warned cricket fans against a surge in fake ticket booking apps and websites ahead of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) match scheduled on May 22 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal.In a social media post on Saturday, the commissioner said cybercriminals are exploiting heavy demand for tickets by creating fraudulent platforms that mimic the official ticketing partner’s app, using similar logos and colour schemes to deceive users. Advertisements for these fake booking platforms are being widely circulated on social media.He cautioned that users who click on such links and attempt to book tickets risk losing money and exposing sensitive banking details to fraudsters. Victims may neither receive tickets nor recover their payments.Sajjanar urged citizens to rely only on verified platforms, avoid unofficial links, and report suspicious apps or websites to the police, stressing that authorities are closely monitoring such frauds.
