Jaipur: A paying guest (PG) accommodation operator in Jaipur’s Mansarovar area filed an FIR Thursday about receiving an extortion call demanding Rs 1 lakh every month from a caller who identified himself as ‘Vikram Laden’, police said. Police have registered an FIR and launched a search for the accused.According to the officials, the complainant is a 29-year-old resident of Mansarovar who runs a PG business in the area. In his complaint lodged at the Shipra Path police station, the victim alleged that the caller threatened to kill him if the money was not paid. According to the FIR, the caller allegedly said: “I am Vikram Laden speaking. You know me very well. You are earning a lot by running PGs in Jaipur. You will pay me Rs 1 lakh every month as extortion money.” The caller further allegedly threatened to assault and kill the victim if he failed to comply.Police said the incident occurred around 8.30 pm on May 12 when the PG operator had gone for a walk near City Park with a friend. Officials said the friend first received a call on his mobile phone, after which the caller asked to speak directly to the PG operator. Police teams are now investigating the case and attempting to trace the accused, identified by officials as habitual offender Vikram Laden.
