Chandigarh: Punjab health and family welfare minister Dr Balbir Singh on Wednesday assessed the ongoing development works under the municipal corporation limits in the Patiala Rural constituency and directed officials to ensure the timely completion of all projects.Chairing a review meeting, Dr Balbir Singh instructed officials to take municipal councillors into confidence while executing development works in different wards of the city. He said the Punjab govt, led by chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has fulfilled all the promises made to the people during the elections and is committed to ensuring holistic development across the state.The minister said no development work should remain pending in the constituency and emphasised that all officers and corporation officials must regularly visit every ward to assess local requirements and ensure prompt execution of works. He reviewed the progress of road construction projects and directed officials to expedite the pace of work.He directed MC officials to conduct a comprehensive survey of water supply pipelines ahead of the monsoon season to identify and repair any leakage or damage. He stressed the need for better coordination among departments to ensure smooth and timely completion of ongoing projects. He directed officials to complete the cleaning and desilting of sewer lines before June-end to prevent waterlogging during the rainy season. Mayor Kundan Gogia and municipal commissioner Paramjit Singh said the civic body has deployed one sewer-cleaning machine of its own and hired four more to complete the work before the monsoon.The minister also reviewed projects related to 24×7 canal water supply, parks, streetlights, roads and streets, and directed officials to complete them within fixed timelines.MSID:: 131066216 413 |
