CBSE Class 12 boards: Gurgaon region records 88.4% pass rate
Girls outperformed boys both in the region and across the state

Gurgaon: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced the Class 12 results, with the Gurgaon region recording an overall pass percentage of 88.4%. Of the 94,255 students who appeared for the exams in the region — spanning 12 districts including Gurgaon, Faridabad, Palwal and Sonipat — 82,979 cleared them.Gurgaon regional office was established in 2025 after southern districts were carved out from the Panchkula regional office.Across Haryana, 1,55,150 students appeared for the exams, of which 1,34,488 passed, resulting in an overall state pass percentage of 86.6% — down from 91% in 2025.Girls outperformed boys both in the region and across the state. In the Gurgaon region, 37,232 of the 40,530 girls who appeared passed, registering a pass percentage of 91.8%, compared to 85.8% among boys, of whom 45,747 of 53,285 cleared the exams.At the state level, 60,867 of the 67,293 girls who appeared passed, recording a pass percentage of 90.4%, down from 94.7% in 2025. Among boys, 73,621 of the 87,138 who appeared cleared the exams, with a pass percentage of 84.4%, compared to 88.5% in 2025.Educationists said the drop in pass percentage in the state reflected a shift towards stricter and more transparent evaluation standards. “While the numbers are lower, such reforms ultimately strengthen academic credibility and encourage students to focus on conceptual understanding rather than rote learning,” said a teacher from a private school in the city.Naysa Singh of DPS Sector 45 topped the science stream with 99.2%, having also scored 98.9% in Class 10. She secured perfect scores in biology, chemistry and psychology, and 99 in English and 97 in physical education. Naysa, who had appeared for the NEET exam, is keen on pursuing MBBS but the exam was cancelled following an alleged paper leak, leaving her next steps uncertain.In the commerce stream, Daksh Gupta of DAV School Sector 39 scored 99%, with perfect 100 in mathematics and 99 each in economics, accountancy and business studies, and 98 in English. He aspires to become a chartered accountant and eventually start his own practice.In the children with special needs category, 273 students appeared from the Gurgaon region. Among them, Harsh, a humanities student from Amity International School Sector 46, scored 86% despite having dyslexia — a learning disability identified after he failed Class 11. Studying three to four hours daily, and supported by his family and teachers, he gradually rebuilt his confidence and his grasp of subjects. His mother Kavita is a homemaker and his father Lalit works as a transport in-charge at a school.
