Uber to expand presence in Hyderabad: CEO tells CM

Hyderabad: Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, who is on a week-long visit to India, met Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday and shared the ridesharing giant’s plans to expand its presence in Hyderabad.The Uber top boss told the CM that its expansion plans include its existing centre of excellence (CoE) in Hyderabad that currently houses 600 engineers, a communique issued by the chief minister’s office (CMO) said.The Uber top honcho, who was accompanied by the mobility giant’s chief business officer Madhu Kannan, Uber India and South Asia president Prabhjeet Singh as well as chief technology officer Praveen Nippalli Naga, also expressed interest in setting up Uber’s corporate office at the upcoming Bharat Future City.

During the meeting, the CM urged Uber’s top boss to explore the possibility of entering the parking business in India given the mounting challenges related to traffic and parking plaguing major cities across the country, according to the CMO.According to the CMO, the Uber top brass assured the CM that they would take up a comprehensive study on the CM’s suggestion.
