Lane curbs on NH-09 likely to slow Ghz-Delhi commute till June

New Delhi: Commuters travelling between Ghaziabad and Delhi are likely to face traffic congestion over the coming weeks as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has begun maintenance and carpeting work on the NH-09 stretch connecting Ghaziabad to Sarai Kale Khan.Lane restrictions have been imposed on the carriageway, and the work is expected to continue till June 2026. Authorities have advised commuters to avoid the stretch where possible and use NH-24 as the preferred alternate route.The Ghaziabad-Sarai Kale Khan corridor is among the busiest commuter routes connecting east Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad with the central parts of the capital. The stretch is heavily used by office-goers, interstate bus passengers, commercial vehicles and daily commuters travelling towards ITO, Pragati Maidan, Ashram and central Delhi.Police personnel have also been deployed at key intersections to manage traffic flow and minimise inconvenience. Authorities said real-time updates regarding diversions and congestion will continue to be shared through Delhi Traffic Police‘s social media platforms and helpline channels.
