Sand-laden dumper taken from police premises, brought back empty

Jodhpur: An unidentified person Sunday allegedly drove away a sand-laden dumper truck parked inside a police outpost in Jodhpur’s Luni police station area, unloaded the material elsewhere and later returned the empty vehicle to the same premises without being detected.Following the incident, ASI Umesh Chandra, who was on patrol at the time, registered a case of theft against unidentified persons. Sources said investigators are also probing possible negligence or connivance of the outpost staff on duty.According to the complaint, a police team had seized three overloaded dumper trucks carrying gravel in the early hours of May 8 for lack of valid documents. All three vehicles were parked inside the Dhundhara outpost premises. One of the dumpers had was been seized from Mukesh Jat, a resident of Bara Khurd village in the Khedapa police station area.A preliminary inquiry has been initiated and a case of theft registered against unidentified accused. Police said efforts are underway to recover the stolen gravel and identify those involved.
