Punjab cabinet rallies behind Mittal, slams ED raids as ‘political vendetta’

Chandigarh: Punjab ministers on Wednesday rallied behind AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal, condemning the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at premises linked to him and alleging misuse of central agencies for political purposes.Ministers took to social media to attack the BJP-led Centre, describing the action as part of a broader pattern of targeting political opponents. Finance minister Harjot Singh Bains said central agencies were being used as a “go-to tactic” against the Aam Aadmi Party. “Previous raids have yielded no proof or cases, only pressure tactics. We will not back down,” he said.Minister Baljit Kaur alleged that agencies like ED and CBI were being turned into tools of political pressure. “Targeting a sitting Rajya Sabha MP reflects how dissent is being handled. Such actions weaken democracy,” she said.Cabinet minister Ravjot Singh said the move reflected “desperation” ahead of elections, claiming the BJP was unable to counter AAP on governance.
