Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) functionary Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday launched a sharp attack on the AAP-led govt in Punjab, accusing it of “abandoning farmers at a crucial time as wheat procurement remains slow across mandis in Punjab”.Majithia alleged that farmers, already hit by crop damage due to unseasonal rains and adverse weather, were now facing further hardship because of administrative lapses. “Procurement delays have forced farmers to wait for days with their produce, with no clarity on lifting or payments,” he said. Calling the situation a “triple setback”, he said, “Farmers have suffered due to nature, failure at the state level, and lack of response from the Centre.“Majithia demanded “immediate corrective measures in mandis, timely commencement of wheat procurement, and assured payments to farmers.”
