Bengaluru: Miffed by the practice of various departments sending seat matrices late, Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has written to them to upload the matrices for Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling by the second week of May.KEA holds CET counselling for multiple courses, spanning engineering, agriculture, allied health sciences, nursing and pharma. Moreover, KEA also holds counselling for medical, dental and Ayush seats. Mostly, the counselling for all these courses is held in tandem so that students can make informed choices. In the CET online seat selection process, they opt for courses in the order of their preferences.KEA has written letters to the higher education department, the directorate of medical education, health and family welfare and various universities. “The seat matrix of the courses should be uploaded on the ‘KEA Seat Matrix portal’ within the second week of May, a certified copy should be given to the authority and a govt order containing fee information should be issued and a nodal officer should be appointed for coordination,” the letters said.“All the above steps will require a minimum of 20 days after the receipt of the seat matrix. In addition, all rounds of seat allocation conducted by the authority will have to be conducted as per the schedule of AICTE/competent authority,” KEA said, emphasising the importance of keeping up with the timelines.A delay in getting the seat matrix of one of these courses could derail KEA’s entire plans. It may be recalled that some of the nursing seats were added after the third round of the counselling process last year, forcing KEA to start the process again. The delay from various universities is mainly because the affiliation processes take time, with local inquiry committees visiting colleges and giving approval for existing and increased intake.Quote:I recently held a meeting with stakeholders and I’ve asked them to speed up the process. The university and allied health council have been advised to send the matrices on time positively– Mohammed Mohsin, additional chief secretary, medical educationBOX:KEA counselling for various professional coursesEngineering and TechnologyArchitectureBachelor of Yoga and Naturopathy (BNYS)BSc (Nursing)Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH)Farm Science courses [Agriculture, Sericulture, Horticulture, Forestry, Community Science, Biotechnology, Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology, Fisheries, Agriculture Business Management]B Pharma, Pharma (Lateral Entry)MedicalDentalAyush———–Over 1.3 lakh to take ComedK on SaturdayTNNBengaluru: A total of 1,30,620 candidates from across India will appear for Comed-K (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) UG entrance test, scheduled for May 9.As per ComedK, as many as 43,069 applicants are from Karnataka.
