Centre responsible for security lapses, not Punjab: AAP

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday said responsibility for recent blasts in Amritsar and Jalandhar lay with the Centre, not the state government.Punjab AAP chief Aman Arora accused opposition parties, particularly the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), of politicising the incidents and attempting to create fear ahead of elections. He alleged such incidents were often used to polarise voters.Arora said the Centre must be held accountable, noting that the Border Security Force (BSF) jurisdiction along the international border had been extended from 15 km to 50 km, bringing areas like Amritsar and Jalandhar under its ambit.Cabinet ministers Harbhajan Singh, Balbir Singh and Harjot Singh Bains echoed the view, saying accountability for any security lapses rests with central agencies. They also accused the BJP of trying to disturb Punjab’s peace for political gains, asserting that such attempts would not succeed.
