SGPC to vloggers: Don’t disturb devotees during Parikarma

Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has objected to ‘unnecessary questioning’ of devotees visiting the Parikrama of Golden Temple by some vloggers and media personnel. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, SGPC chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan said that lakhs of devotees visit Golden Temple every day with devotion. ” During this time, questioning them not only hurts their religious sentiments, but also disrupts the sanctity of the Parikrama,” he said, adding that there are already directives from Akal Takht that no interviews or byte recordings should be conducted within the Parikrama of Golden Temple. He appealed to all media organisations and journalists to refrain from conducting any kind of interviews or question-answer sessions inside the Parikrama. “If there is a need to take reactions from devotees on any issue, it should be done only at designated places outside the Parikrama,” he said. Mannan also urged people to avoid broadcasting any objectionable content created using AI technology related to Golden Temple, Sikh Gurus, or Sikh symbols.
