Bengaluru: A 23-year-old woman from Mumbai was arrested for creating a ruckus at a five-star hotel on Palace Road in Bengaluru and later allegedly assaulting women police officers at the station. The accused, identified as Taniya Dhila, had travelled to the city to attend an event at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre.According to sub-inspector Lakshmi’s complaint, the police helpline (112) received a call reporting a disturbance at the Shangri-La Hotel. A Hoysala patrol vehicle was immediately dispatched to the scene, and assistant sub-inspector Samiullah along with constable Ramesh Putti responded.Upon arrival, the officers found Taniya shouting at hotel staff. They attempted to calm her, but she remained agitated, refused to cooperate, and continued arguing with both the staff and police. Later, at the police station, she allegedly assaulted women officers. A medical examination conducted on suspicion of substance use confirmed the presence of marijuana in her system.She was then taken to another private hospital to test for drug consumption which too came positive. The situation then escalated dramatically, with Taniya allegedly turning violent and attacking Lakshmi. She allegedly pulled Lakshmi’s hair, tore her uniform, and kicked her. Two constables, Sunitha and Najeema Mabusab Nadaf tried to intervene but were also assaulted. Najeema was bitten on the hand, drawing blood.Amid the chaos, the accused reportedly hurled abuses at the officers, further escalating tension. A case has been registered against Taniya under BNS Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
