Bengaluru: A delivery agent sustained minor burns when gas, leaking from the cylinder, came into contact with a lamp, igniting a quick fire. The incident took place outside a house in Vyalikaval near Malleswaram recently. A video grab of the incident shows the delivery agent placing the new cylinder near the front door and opening it for testing. However, gas leaked and came in contact with the burning lamp placed near the door entrance. The fire spread, covering the agent partially. He managed to douse the flames on his body as well as on the cylinder.A senior police officer said no case has been registered. “According to information received, a woman living in the house had washed the threshold of the entrance, performed a ritual and lit an oil lamp. At that moment, the delivery boy arrived to deliver the cylinder. Unaware of the lamp burning on the threshold, the boy placed the cylinder — which he had carried on his shoulder — near the door. It is being reported that there was already a slight gas leak from the cylinder. As soon as it was placed on the ground, the leaking gas came into contact with the flame of the lamp, triggering a sudden fire followed by a loud explosion,” the officer explained.
