Chandigarh: Haryana will convene a special session of the state assembly on Constitution Day on Nov 26, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Tuesday.Addressing a news conference after a cabinet meeting in Chandigarh, Saini said all seven agenda items placed before the Cabinet had been approved. The special session will be part of the Constitution Fortnight celebrations. The CM announced that the state govt had released Rs 86.95 crore in grants to 629 gaushalas for cattle maintenance, fodder arrangements and construction of sheds.Turning to Punjab politics, Saini said BJP would form the next govt in the state, alleging that both Congress and AAP had failed to fulfil their promises. He claimed AAP had promised jobs to 25 lakh people in Punjab but failed to explain how many youths had actually been employed during its five-year tenure.Saini also accused AAP of disappointing farmers and women by not delivering on its promises of financial assistance. He alleged that the Punjab govt was trying to prevent him from attending political programmes in the state and exerting pressure on organisers.Taking a swipe at Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Saini said Mann had kept his distance from his Dhuri constituency for five years. On stubble burning, Saini claimed Haryana had performed better than Punjab, with a decline in incidents. He said the state was providing farmers Rs 1,200 per acre as an incentive for stubble management and supplied agricultural equipment to more than 1.5 lakh farmers to help them manage crop residue. He challenged AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to explain what concrete steps his party had taken to tackle stubble burning in Punjab after previously raising the issue when the party was not in power there.Saini also urged people to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local‘ call during Diwali, appealing to buy indigenous products and earthen lamps from artisans and traders.
