Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said after the party’s impressive victory in Kerala, Punjab will be next where the Congress will come to office following the assembly elections scheduled early next year.In an informal interaction with reporters, Warring said the Congress has emerged much stronger in Kerala as it earlier won the Parliament and local bodies elections also.Replying to a question on West Bengal, the PCC president said there were many factors responsible for the TMC’s defeat in West Bengal. He alleged that besides the partiality shown by the Election Commission of India and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the failures of the TMC govt were also responsible for its defeat. He alleged that the BJP, besides misusing its power and other institutions and agencies, exploited the grave failures like corruption and lawlessness in the state to its advantage.Warring said Congress did not approve of what was happening in Bengal under the TMC rule and that is the reason the party contested all the 294 assembly segments. The PCC president also took a dig at the Punjab BJP leaders who were gloating over the Bengal and Assam results. “Let me tell them, Punjab is more like Tamil Nadu and Kerala and less like Bengal or Assam,” he told the BJP leaders claiming Punjab to be their next target, adding, “In Punjab, the BJP will meet a fate worse than what it met in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.”“You can’t polarise people in Punjab and that is my guarantee and without polarisation you cannot win even a single seat of state,” he told the BJP.
