Hyderabad: A junior assistant working in the Borabanda Circle of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Monday when she accepted a bribe of 1 lakh from the complainant.According to an ACB press note, B Srilatha, junior assistant, Revenue/Tax, at the office of the deputy commissioner, Borabanda Circle-37, Khairatabad Zone, demanded a 5 lakh bribe from the complainant to process and hand over house construction permission.Based on the complaint, the ACB, Hyderabad City Range-I team, trapped the accused official at about 2 pm near a supermarket at Yousufguda Checkpost when she accepted the first instalment of 1 lakh from the complainant.According to ACB officials, the tainted bribe amount was recovered from her possession. Chemical tests conducted on the fingers of both her hands yielded positive results, ACB said in an official statement.The accused was arrested and she will be produced before the principal and special judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The identity of the complainant has been withheld by ACB for security reasons. The case is under investigation.
