Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park Metro station shut for 4 hours after power failure

Bengaluru: Cubbon Park underground Metro station was closed for four hours following a power failure Monday morning. The outage affected lighting within the station premises, prompting authorities to suspend train halts as a safety precaution.Trains continued to operate on Purple Line but did not stop at Cubbon Park station between 7am and 11am. Commuters were asked to use nearby stations such as Vidhana Soudha and MG Road to access Purple Line service, leading to inconvenience during peak hours. An official from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited said the disruption was limited to the underground station and did not impact train movements. “Due to power supply issue, lighting systems in the underground station were non-functional. While train operations were unaffected, the station was temporarily closed to passengers as a safety measure. Services resumed after the issue was rectified,” the official said. The control circuit fault required isolation and verification to avoid disruptions or equipment damage before it could be rectified, the official added.
