Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday claimed that the Punjab vigilance bureau’s 40,000-page supplementary chargesheet in the case against Akali Dal functionary Bikram Singh Majithia involved a Rs 736.96 crore money trail, and that “shell companies” and liquor businesses are allegedly under scrutiny.AAP Punjab media in charge Baltej Pannu claimed that the investigation had traced “unaccounted assets and funds”, with Majithia’s assets showing a 1,495% rise during the Akali-BJP regime from 2007 to 2017.According to Pannu, the preliminary investigation found that the value of unaccounted assets rose from an initial “disproportionate assets” figure of Rs 10.3 crore to Rs 50.81 crore, eventually reaching Rs 719.72 crore, representing a 1,495.37% increase.“The figures emerging from the probe raise serious questions about wealth accumulation during the Akali-BJP regime,” he said.Pannu alleged that the forensic probe identified transactions and financial irregularities totalling Rs 736.96 crore. He further claimed that the chargesheet detailed a network of companies through which financial transactions were allegedly routed, transferred and manipulated.“The business entities linked to Majithia and his associates were used to move funds through multiple channels,” he said.Pannu mentioned a list of companies and entities allegedly under the scanner. “The investigation has brought forward details of cash deposits, transfers involving foreign companies, unexplained funds and transactions involving business entities linked to the case,” he said. The AAP functionary further claimed the probe concentrated on the accumulation of “disproportionate assets” between March 2, 2007, and March 31, 2017, during the Akali-BJP govt. The investigation recorded a substantial increase in assets during the period under scrutiny, he added.
