Pune makes room for round-the-clock gyms

Pune: In today’s fast-paced world, many working professionals in Pune find it challenging to set aside time for exercise due to shifting work hours, unpredictable daily schedules, increasing professional and family responsibilities and long commutes. As the concept of round-the-clock gyms gains popularity internationally and across India, Tungsten Fitness Club has recently launched a 24-hour open gym in Wanowrie, keeping this trend in mind.Pune is home to a large number of IT employees, entrepreneurs and corporate professionals. Factors such as night shifts, heavy workloads and time spent commuting often make it difficult for many to visit a gym during standard operating hours. “Our primary objective in launching a 24-Hour open Gym is to allow individuals to exercise at a time that suits their own convenience,” said Vishal Narendra Mangal, founder of Tungsten Fitness Club.Vishal Mangal said the flexibility to choose workout timings makes it easier to maintain consistency. Professional commitments or sudden changes in work schedules often make it difficult to adhere to a gym’s fixed hours. A 24-hour open gym, however, enables individuals to exercise at their convenience and adopt a healthier lifestyle.Exercising late at night or in the early hours of the morning is just as beneficial for one’s health as working out during the more traditional, conventional gym hours. However, when exercising at night, it is crucial to maintain a balance between physical activity, sleep and the body’s recovery. Vishal Mangal stated that they advise members to avoid high-intensity workouts just before bedtime and to ensure they get adequate rest after exercising. The 24-hour open gym in Pune is expected to attract working professionals aged 22 to 40. Mangal said the facility could also benefit entrepreneurs with irregular schedules, students and individuals from other age groups. The safety of members arriving late at night or early in the morning has also been prioritised. The gym features a controlled access system, CCTV surveillance, adequate lighting and staff assistance whenever required.Vishal Mangal added that women’s safety is important, with measures such as secure entry, monitored common areas, proper lighting and accessible staff assistance in place to ensure their safety during overnight operations.
