Jaipur: Rajasthan is set to begin construction of its first greenfield expressway soon, nearly three years after the state announced its expressway network. Rajasthan State Road Development and Construction Corporation (RSRDC) will invite bids in Nov for the 210-km Kishangarh-Kotputli corridor. The project will be executed by RSRDC, a state PWD undertaking. Officials said construction would begin as soon as the bidding process and other formalities, including issuance of the work order, are completed. The expressway is expected to ease congestion on Jaipur-Ajmer Expressway and Delhi-Jaipur highway (NH-48), which have witnessed rising traffic volumes over the past two to three years. Officials said the diversion of traffic could also help reduce accident risks on these busy routes.

“The expressway will significantly cut travel time between Delhi and Ajmer, and further towards Jodhpur, Pali, Udaipur and Gujarat. It will also reduce Jaipur-Delhi and Jaipur-Ajmer travel time by easing traffic on Delhi Road and Ajmer Road,” an RSRDC engineer said. The project was first announced on July 10, 2024, when finance and PWD minister Diya Kumari proposed nine greenfield expressways in the state budget. In Sept 2025, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma cleared two corridors for construction — Kishangarh-Kotputli and Beawar-Bharatpur.Tenders for Beawar-Bharatpur expressway are likely to be invited within three to four months, RSRDC officials said.Of the remaining seven proposed corridors, RSRDC will develop five – Jaipur-Bhilwara, Ajmer-Banswara, Sri Ganganagar-Kotputli and Jalore-Jhalawar. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will take up Jaipur-Pachpadra and Bikaner-Kotputli.An RSRDC engineer said the projects would mark a significant step in expanding Rajasthan’s road infrastructure, as several states are developing greenfield expressways.
