Times News NetworkLudhiana: A 36-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after her brother-in-law allegedly tried to run her and her husband over with a car near the Dehlon bypass, following a long-standing family dispute. The incident took place on May 2, when the couple was on their way to Dehlon police station to file a complaint against the accused.The victim, Kirandeep Kaur of Saian Khurd village, told the police that she and her husband, Kuldeep Singh, have an ongoing property dispute with Avtar Singh alias Jagtar Singh, Kuldeep’s elder brother. She alleged that on April 27, Avtar Singh and his associates barged into their house, vandalised the premises and assaulted the couple.Kirandeep said that on May 2, she and her husband were travelling on a motorcycle to the police station when they stopped near the Dehlon bypass as her husband received a phone call. At the time, the accused allegedly arrived in a car and drove towards them at high speed with the intention of killing them.Kuldeep managed to jump out of harm’s way, but Kirandeep was hit by the vehicle, suffering a fracture in her leg and other injuries. She was later taken for medical treatment.Investigating officer ASI Dharam Singh confirmed that the dispute between the brothers is related to property and said the matter is already pending before a court. Kirandeep alleged that her mother-in-law and other relatives had earlier tried to forcibly evict her family from their house.Dehlon police have registered an FIR under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Avtar Singh and his aides.
