Driver killed over autorickshaw seat dispute in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 26-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, who was undergoing treatment after being assaulted by his acquaintance at Padarayanapura in West Bengaluru, succumbed to his injuries Saturday.The deceased was identified as Mubarak, a resident of 7th Cross in Padarayanapura, while the accused was identified as Tabrez, 46.Based on the primary investigation, police said Mubarak accused Tabrez of taking his auto’s seat on May 1. They got into a heated argument over the issue around 10 am and assaulted each other. Residents intervened, separated the duo and sent them away.However, Tabrez later attacked Mubarak with a wooden piece around 12.30pm. Mubarak sustained a severe head injury and collapsed. People rushed him to a nearby hospital.Mubarak’s father, M Firoz, told police that he received information about the attack from his younger son. Mubarak was in a coma and was undergoing treatment. He succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning. Jagajeevanram Nagar police, who registered a case of attempt to murder and arrested Tabrez, have now invoked murder charges and are investigating. Mubarak had gotten married a year ago and was living separately with his wife.
