Panaji: Elections may be fought on the ground, but in Goa, the political battle is increasingly spilling into the digital world. With the Assembly elections scheduled for Feb 2027, BJP and Congress are turning to AI to create memes, sharpen their attacks on each other, and capture public attention. As political messaging moves beyond traditional rallies, posters, and speeches, AI-generated content is emerging as another tool in the contest for visibility and narrative control. The trend raises questions about how technology is reshaping election campaigning, blurring the lines around political satire and influencing the way voters engage with politics in Goa.Targeting BJP over its ‘Sarkar Tumchya Dari’ initiative to connect with the people ahead of the election, the Congress social media handler created a meme wherein BJP karyakartas are conducting a door-to-door campaign and they realise that there is nobody inside. When a BJP karyakarta knocks on the door, they see a message tag on the lock, mentioning “gone for goy rakhonn yatra” organised by Congress to defeat BJP in Goa.“You remembered our doors when you needed votes. Goa remembered every time you failed to answer. Now knock all you want, BJP. Goans have stepped out—to stand up for their land, identity, and future,” Congress said on social media.“Oh BJP MAT ANA” was another poster circulated on social media by Congress to target Sarkar Tumchya Dari. “Goans are in no mood for another BJP sales pitch. Years of broken promises cannot be repackaged as ‘Sarkar Tumchya Dari’. No second look. No more excuses. Your time is up. Pack up and go!”BJP has also targeted Congress on social media. “Another day, another episode of Rahul Gandhi’s disrespect towards his own party workers. This is how a dynast treats the very people who work for his party. Our sympathies are with Manikrao Thakare, GPCC president Girish Chodankar and the other leader who was pushed aside by him. Goa Congress, whatever you may write to justify this act, Goans have seen the truth. Congress is dynast first, worker last,” BJP said.In another instance, BJP created a meme around a cricket match. People are listening to the commentary in a running car, and while a few people are watching the match at a barber shop, commentators raise the question of whether BJP will make a hat-trick and Congress will lose the 100th election. Sawant, who is shown as a bowler, is running from the bowling end, and Rahul is shown as a batsman. Then Sawant bowls Rahul and the commentators cheer, with BJP winning.
