Bengaluru: An Air India Express flight on Saturday had to abort its initial landing attempt at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) after a foreign object was detected on the runway. The flight, which left Goa at 6:48pm, reached Bengaluru around 8pm and was about to touch down at KIA. Sources told TOI that while descending, the pilot got an instruction from Air Traffic Control (ATC) for a go-around.ATC communicated to the flight that there was a foreign object on the runway. “The pilot followed the instructions and went for a go-around. A few minutes later, he attempted a landing and executed a safe landing, and everything was normal,” the source added.Though the presence of a foreign object was confirmed, neither the airline nor KIA operator Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has acknowledged it. BIAL officials were not available for comment when contacted.
