Assam tops NATGRID use, new criminal laws implementation ranking

Guwahati: Assam has emerged as a frontrunner in intelligence-led policing following the implementation of India’s new criminal justice laws, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. The state topped the country in the use of National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) and recorded a compliance score significantly higher than the national average in implementing the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).Assam recorded 2,37,121 activities on NATGRID’s Gandiva and Sudarshan platforms in Sept 2026, the highest in the country, Sarma said in a post on X.“A safer Assam is built on strong intelligence, swift coordination and the smart use of technology,” he said.“Ranking No. 1 in NATGRID usage nationwide in September 2026, with 2,37,121 activities across Gandiva and Sudarshan platforms, Assam is strengthening its ability to access and utilise intelligence inputs for more effective law enforcement and internal security,” he added.NATGRID is Centre’s intelligence-sharing platform that lets authorised agencies access and analyse data from multiple databases. Our policing is focused on stronger enforcement, swift action and protecting every citizen. Assam ranks No. 1 in the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as per the @HMOIndia NCLI dashboard,” Sarma wrote on X.He added, “May Maa Durga bless us with the courage to fight crime, uphold justice and protect every citizen.”
