Bengaluru police detain protesters defying ban at Town Hall
Hundreds of CJP AISA students and youths detained as they arrived to protest against SIR in front of Town Hall in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Bengaluru: Hundreds of youngsters, including All India Students’ Association (AISA) members and activists from Cockroach Janta Party, were detained when they tried to gather and protest against the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) exercise outside Town Hall Saturday evening.Earlier, AISA had approached the jurisdictional police from Ulsoor Gate station seeking permission to protest outside Town Hall. However, citing high court orders banning protests and agitations outside of Freedom Park in the city, police had turned down the application and suggested that protests could be held at Freedom Park. But despite this, AISA went on social media announcing that they would gather outside Town Hall and protest.
