Missed Gruha Jyothi survey? Visit nearest Escom office by October 31
Escom-wise breakup of door-locked and vacant households identified during Gruha Jyothi beneficiary verification survey across Karnataka.

Bengaluru: Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries across Karnataka, who missed the ongoing door-to-door verification survey, including those whose houses were locked or vacant, can now submit their documents in person at the nearest electricity supply company’s (Escom) sub-division office by Oct 31, following a one-time opportunity granted by the state govt. The decision is aimed at ensuring that eligible beneficiaries do not miss out on the free electricity scheme because they were unavailable during the survey. Govt has extended the survey deadline to Oct 31 and asked consumers who could not participate in the door-to-door exercise to complete document verification at the respective offices before the deadline. In Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom)’s jurisdiction, which covers eight districts, there are 74,29,773 beneficiaries under Gruha Jyothi, including consumers covered by Bhagya Jyothi, Kuteera Jyothi and Amrutha Jyothi schemes. As of this week, verification has been completed for over 72,40,000 beneficiaries, accounting for almost 97.5% of the total. However, the survey identified close to 16.1 lakh locked houses and 28,519 vacant houses, leaving a large number of consumers unavailable for verification.Following a request from Bescom, govt has provided these consumers with a final opportunity to submit the required documents personally. The utility said Oct 31 will be the final deadline for document verification under this special arrangement, urging beneficiaries to complete the process to avoid complications with their eligibility under the scheme. The Gruha Jyothi scheme provides eligible domestic consumers with free electricity up to the prescribed limit.
