Gurgaon: GMDA teams will soon conduct round-the-clock monitoring and upkeep of sector roads across the city. The move follows inspections of several sector roads by GMDA CEO PC Meena on Saturday, during which he reviewed the status of maintenance work, cleanliness and drainage preparedness ahead of the monsoon. During the check, gaps in desilting, debris clearance and overall road safety measures were found.Meena directed each division to form multiple field teams for real-time reporting, coordination and supervision.Officials said the authority has adopted a zero-tolerance stance on negligence, identifying critical areas that require immediate attention. The teams will maintain constant contact through WhatsApp groups, which will be monitored by the CEO.The teams will be responsible for removing silt from drains, clearing construction and demolition waste, repairing and covering damaged or open slabs, and removing abandoned kerb stones and loose materials that pose risks to commuters.In addition, officials have been instructed to ensure proper placement and repainting of jersey barriers to improve visibility and enhance road safety, particularly on high-speed corridors and accident-prone stretches.The teams have also been ordered to prioritise the trimming of wild vegetation, scientific disposal of horticultural waste and upkeep of green belts, which often become dumping grounds and contribute to waterlogging during heavy rainfall.“We are enforcing strict monitoring and accountability to ensure that sector roads remain safe, clean and fully prepared for the monsoon. Dedicated teams and real-time oversight will significantly improve execution efficiency, drainage management and overall city upkeep. Regular inspections will be conducted, and any negligence will not be tolerated,” Meena said.The move comes as the city braces for the monsoon season, during which waterlogging and clogged drains routinely disrupt traffic and expose gaps in civic preparedness.“All officers concerned have been directed to act immediately and maintain continuous vigilance to ensure that infrastructure standards, cleanliness and public safety are not compromised,” the official said.
