4 minor siblings found dead inside their home in Lucknow; mother suspected

LUCKNOW: Four minor siblings were found murdered inside their home in Ambedkar Nagar district, with police suspecting the involvement of their mother, who is currently absconding. The crime came to light around 3 pm on Saturday in the Meeranpur locality after neighbours alerted the police when repeated knocks at the house went unanswered. Police said the main door was locked from the inside and had to be broken open. Inside, officers found the four children lying lifeless on a bed, their bodies soaked in blood. The victims were identified as Shafeeq (14), Saud (12), Umar (8), and Bano (6). Preliminary findings suggest the children were killed by repeated blows with a brick. Police said the children’s mother, Gaasiya Khatoon (35), who was believed to be inside the house at the time, was missing and is now the prime suspect. Initial findings indicate that she may have fled by jumping from the balcony after the incident. A forensic team has collected evidence from the scene, while police have launched a search operation to trace the woman. Family members told investigators that the children’s father, Niyaz, has been working in Saudi Arabia for the past one and a half years and has not returned home during this period. They also alleged that he had remarried abroad, which may have caused severe emotional distress to Gaasiya. Superintendent of Police Prachi Singh said multiple teams have been deployed to track the woman and examine all possible angles, including mental health concerns and domestic issues. “We have also received inputs suggesting the woman was in a relationship with a man from a neighbouring village, who allegedly did not want her past responsibilities. This, coupled with her husband’s remarriage, could have aggravated her distress,” the SP said. Police are also searching for the man allegedly linked to her and are examining his possible role. Further investigation is underway.
