Ahmedabad: A dengue outbreak among security personnel deployed for the Statue of Unity parade has resulted in death of one jawan, while 37 others were under treatment at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, state health department officials said on Friday.Over the past 10 days, 87 jawans belonging to the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have been admitted to the hospital after contracting dengue, officials said.The personnel arrived in Gujarat from Odisha, Jharkhand, Delhi, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh to participate in the parade at the Statue of Unity.Of the 87 jawans admitted during this period, 50 have recovered satisfactorily and been discharged, while 37 remain under treatment and observation at the hospital.One jawan has died, but officials said the exact cause of death would be established after the postmortem report is received.The health department is monitoring the situation as hospital authorities continue to treat the affected personnel.
