NOIDA: A suspected road-rage incident in Noida, in which a driver allegedly drove on the wrong side of the road, chased another motorist and then brake-checked his car, has gone viral on social media. The incident was captured on a dashboard camera and has triggered concerns over aggressive driving and road safety. The video, shared on X by user Abhishek Jalan, purportedly shows a car travelling on the wrong side of the road near the median before turning around and following another vehicle. The driver allegedly attempts to block the commuter’s path by abruptly applying the brakes in front of his car.The footage then shows the driver getting out of his vehicle and approaching the other car. The commuter, however, appears to avoid confrontation. He keeps the doors of his vehicle locked, maintains a safe distance from the other car and waits for an opportunity to move away.Jalan tagged Noida Police and Uttar Pradesh Police while sharing the footage and urged authorities to examine the incident. He also pointed out that the registration number of the vehicle allegedly involved was visible in the video. The post drew attention online, with several users praising the commuter for not getting out of his vehicle or engaging with the other driver. Many also urged police to take action against motorists who resort to aggressive driving and intimidation on city roads.UP Police’s 112 emergency service took cognisance of the post. Responding to Jalan on X on Wednesday, the official handle asked him to share his contact number through direct message. It was not immediately clear whether a formal complaint had subsequently been registered or whether any action had been initiated against the driver. The incident has once again highlighted the risks associated with road rage, particularly when drivers respond to minor disagreements with aggressive manoeuvres. Traffic experts and police officials have repeatedly advised motorists not to engage with aggressive drivers, but instead maintain distance, keep vehicle doors locked and move to a safe location. In this case too, the commuter’s decision to remain inside the vehicle and drive away rather than confront the alleged aggressor has been widely appreciated on social media. The viral footage comes amid continued enforcement against traffic violations in Noida. On Wednesday, traffic police issued 4,860 challans for various violations, including 316 for driving on the wrong side of the road.
