Gurgaon: Aditya Anand, an engineer arrested by Noida police for allegedly orchestrating the April 13 labour unrest, is now under scrutiny for a possible role in the April 9 violence and arson in Manesar.During the Manesar protest, workers allegedly vandalised police vehicles and set a bike on fire. According to sources, Noida police shared information with their Gurgaon counterparts indicating that Anand’s involvement in inciting the unrest surfaced during the investigation. A city police team has since been sent to question him, and he is likely to be named in one of the FIRs linked to the April 9 incident.A police officer said Anand would be questioned to determine whether he was in direct contact with those arrested or booked in the Manesar case. If required, he could be brought to Gurgaon on a production warrant.Anand, alias Rusty, was arrested by Uttar Pradesh special task force on April 18 from Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, in connection with theApril 13 unrest in GB Nagar, which involved arson and damage to public property.Investigators allege that between March 30 and April 1, members of various labour unions met at Anand’s residence in Noida and planned acts of violence and arson under the guise of a labour movement. Police have also found that he was in touch with labour unions in the city.He has remained in Uttar Pradesh police custody since his arrest. In connection with the Manesar protest, more than 70 people were arrested and two FIRs were registered after contractual workers from multiple companies in IMT Manesar clashed with police while demanding higher wages.The protest saw damage to police vehicles and the burning of a police bike. Two FIRs, including one invoking attempt-to-murder charges, were filed at Sector 7 IMT Manesar police station based on complaints by Richa Global Exports and Modelama Exports. In one of the cases, filed on a complaint by Richa Global officials, around 18 people were charged with attempt to murder.
