4 commercial properties sealed in Gurgaon for tax dues over Rs 1 crore

Gurgaon: An MCG enforcement team on Monday sealed four commercial properties in sectors 16 and 61 for non-payment of property tax. According to MCG records, a total of Rs 1.5 crore in property tax is outstanding against these properties. Of this, Rs 83.6 lakh is due from one commercial unit in Sector 16, Rs 37.6 lakh is outstanding against another private firm in Sector 16, while the remaining two properties in Sector 61 have pending dues amounting to over Rs 15 lakh each.MCG earned a revenue of more than Rs 350 crore from property tax in 2025-26. For 2026-27, it has set a target of Rs 325 crore. In the first quarter of 2026-27, MCG earned Rs 213 crore.“All property owners have been urged to pay their property tax on time and regularly check the tax details and outstanding dues associated with their properties. If the outstanding tax is not paid within the stipulated period, MCG will take enforcement action in accordance with the applicable regulations,” MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said directing the owners concerned to deposit their dues.MCG officials said that property tax is one of the important sources of revenue for the civic body. The revenue generated from it is used to improve sanitation, roads, drainage, street lighting, public amenities and other civic services in the city, said officials. They said the civic body is placing special emphasis on taking enforcement action against defaulters. The objective is to encourage taxpayers to make timely payments and ensure the recovery of outstanding revenue, officials added.
