BENGALURU: A 25-year-old gym trainer died following an assault at an apartment in Kempapura after attending his gym’s first anniversary celebration, where a quarrel broke out among a group of trainers and a customer.Police have detained four accused persons and are investigating further. The deceased has been identified as Nandan, a resident of Jakkur Layout. The accused have been identified as Vishwanath, Sharath, Nishanth and Anush.According to the complaint filed by his mother, Manjula, a relationship manager at a private firm, Nandan was her only son. He had completed a diploma course and had been working as a gym trainer at Masiv Fitness in Sahakaranagar for the past one year.On October 3, around 6.30 pm, Nandan informed his mother that the gym was celebrating its first anniversary and that he would be attending the event. He told her that if the celebrations went on late, he would return home the following morning.The next day, however, the family received devastating news. Nandan’s mother learnt that her son had been admitted to a private hospital in Hebbal. She reached the hospital around 3 pm, only to learn that he had died after being assaulted.According to Manjula, after the gym anniversary celebrations ended, Nandan was taken to the house of Anush, a customer of the gym and an acquaintance of trainer Vishwanath, as it had become late. Anush resides at Prestige Misty Waters Apartments in Kempapura.Manjula stated that a quarrel broke out among the group over a petty issue, during which Nandan was assaulted and severely injured. Vishwanath and Sharath also sustained injuries during the altercation.Manjula alleged that Vishwanath, Sharath, Nishanth and Anush, who took Nandan to the apartment, were involved in the quarrel and assault that led to her son’s death.A murder case under Section 103 of the BNS has been registered at Amruthahally police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) GK Mithun Kumar said, “Vishwanth was the trainer of Anush. At Anush’s house, deceased Nandan was assaulted, resulting in his death. The murder appears to be over personal reasons. We are interrogating the accused in detail to ascertain the exact reason.”All the accused persons are aged between 22 and 25 years.
