Hyderabad: A 32-year-old worker died and seven others were injured in a reactor blast at a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Veliminedu village of Nalgonda district on Friday morning.According to the police, the incident occurred around 11.30 am at Nosch Lab, where nine workers were present at the time of the explosion.“Initially, all eight injured workers were rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Of them, two have since been discharged, while five continue to undergo treatment for injuries ranging between 20% and 45%,” said an officer from Narketpally police station.The deceased, Balakrishna, 32, a native of Nalgonda, succumbed to his injuries. “He had no burn injuries and is believed to have died after jumping from the second floor to the ground floor during the incident. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following a post-mortem examination. Among the injured workers, one is from Odisha, while the remaining are from various districts of Telangana,” said the officer.He added that a preliminary investigation suggests the blast was caused by a sudden build-up of pressure inside a stainless steel manufacturing reactor.Emergency response teams, including fire personnel, rushed to the spot soon after the blast and brought the situation under control.
