One biker hits pole, another run over by truck, both die in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A 30-year-old was killed after his motorcycle hit a roadside pole on Gurgaon-Faridabad Road on Saturday. Prem Chand from Ayodhya worked as a caretaker at the house of Bhim Singh in Bandhwari village. He had gone to Baliyawas for some work and was returning when the accident took place near National Institute of Solar Energy around 9pm, his family said.A police officer said, “We are checking the circumstances leading to the crash. Prem Chand was married and his family lives in the village. His body has been handed over to the family after an autopsy.”In another incident, a man was run over by a truck after his bike fell following a collision with a tempo near Dwarka Expressway in the Bajghera police station area. Twenty-six-year-old Anurag from UP’s Barabanki lived on rent in Sector 6 and worked as a bike rider for Ola-Rapido. On Saturday night, he was riding towards Bajghera with his landlord’s son travelling pillion.Police said that as the motorcycle emerged from Dwarka Underpass, a tempo driver standing on the road suddenly moved the vehicle, resulting in a collision. The impact caused Anurag to lose control of the motorcycle and fall in the middle of the road.“A goods-laden truck approaching from behind then ran over him. He sustained critical injuries and died in the crash,” a police officer said, adding, “We have registered a case. The role of the tempo and truck drivers is being examined.” Both fled the spot. “An autopsy has been undertaken and the body has been handed over to the family for the last rites,” the officer said.
