Cong notice to Vishvendra caps months of strain with state leadership

Jaipur: Former minister Vishvendra Singh, facing a show-cause notice from the Congress state disciplinary committee over his public outburst against PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra and the district presidents of Bharatpur and Deeg, had been under the party leadership’s watch for some time.Sources said the notice follows the ex-MLA’s long-standing differences with the state leadership after his defeat in the 2023 assembly elections, and not merely his recent criticism of Dotasra.Despite being a senior Congress member from the Bharatpur-Deeg region, Singh’s involvement in organisational work had allegedly declined sharply. Party insiders claimed he took part minimally in key activities, with his absence from important meetings and discussions drawing attention, especially as he continued attending non-political events.Sources also claimed attempts to involve him in party decisions, including the selection of district presidents and preparations for recent urban local body elections, were met with disregard. The situation escalated after Singh’s remarks against Dotasra, which included references to Dotasra’s family members, leading Congress leadership to approve disciplinary action.TOI tried to contact Singh for a statement, but he was unavailable. People close to him said he might respond to the party notice via social media soon.
