Rejinagar (Murshidabad): Aam Janata Unnayan Party chief Humayun Kabir on Friday said he, along with his son — Rejinagar AJUP bypoll candidate Golam Nabi Azad — would fall at Union home minister Amit Shah’s and BJP president Nitin Nabin’s feet if CM Suvendu Adhikari’s promise to make Rejinagar a model assembly constituency is not kept in the event of an AJUP victory.“I will take a flight to Delhi and fall at Amit Shah’s feet. I will fall at Nitin Nabin’s feet too. If my son wins (the Rejinagar bypoll) and all eight assembly constituencies in Murshidabad (which the BJP won earlier in the 2026 assembly polls) are made model assemblies while Rejinagar is ignored, I will go to Delhi and plead with them (senior BJP politicians),” he told reporters.“There is no point pleading with the CM here. They will not heed my words. Earlier, he (the CM) said opposition MLAs would be invited to administrative meetings. Now, we are being sent text invites two hours after a meeting starts,” he added.Former Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury took a dig at Kabir, saying, “He — and his brand of politics — is responsible for the BJP winning eight assembly seats in Murshidabad district (in the 2026 assembly polls).”
