Amritsar: A 25-year-old person was burnt alive after the SUV he was driving collided head-on with a truck carrying bitumen on the Manawala-Tarn Taran bypass on Thursday.Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Goindwal Sahib, was trapped inside the SUV after the collision and could not escape as the vehicle caught fire.A cop present on the site, Harjit Singh, said the fire had been extinguished but the youth driving the car had died inside the vehicle.The collision triggered a major fire, with flames engulfing both the SUV and the bitumen-laden truck. The accident caused panic among commuters and drew a large crowd to the bypass as the movement of traffic was halted for some time.
