Varanasi: Western Railway emerged as overall champion in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle categories at the 67th All India Inter-Railway Wrestling Championship, held at Banaras Locomotive Works. The grand finale took place on Thursday, with Northern Railway finishing second and North Western Railway securing third place. BLW wrestlers won three silver and two bronze medals in the championship.BLW general manager Ashutosh Pant felicitated the winning teams and medal-winning wrestlers with trophies, medals and certificates.On the final day of the three-day event, wrestlers showcased impressive technique, agility, strength and tactical skill across various weight categories, keeping spectators engaged.In the 97 kg Freestyle category, Praveen Kumar of Western Railway won the gold medal, while Hardeep Singh of Railway Protection Force secured silver.Rahul Rathi of West Central Railway and Vicky of Northern Railway claimed bronze medals.In the 74 kg Freestyle category, Saurabh Sehrawat of Western Railway clinched gold, while Yash of Northern Railway took silver. Munna Yadav of BLW and Parvinder of North Western Railway won bronze medals.In the 82 kg Greco-Roman category, Aman of North Central Railway secured gold, while Rohit Dahiya of Western Railway won silver. Ankit of Central Railway and Neeraj of Northern Railway bagged bronze medals.In the 63 kg Greco-Roman category, Sandeep of North Western Railway won gold, Rupin of Western Railway secured silver, and Chetan of Central Railway claimed bronze.A total of 13 Indian Railways teams participated in the championship, including Northern Railway, Central Railway, Western Railway, North Western Railway, North Central Railway, Rail Coach Factory, Banaras Locomotive Works, Railway Protection Force, Northeast Frontier Railway, East Central Railway, Railway Board, West Central Railway and South Western Railway.The championship featured 20 weight categories across Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling disciplines.
