Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) mayor Sunil Kothari Wednesday directed officials to provide single-window civic services, improve field monitoring and ensure quick redressal of public grievances.Kothari held a review meeting with officials, councillors and sanitation workers of Sanganer and Mansarovar zones. He asked officials to ensure residents do not have to make repeated visits to the civic body to resolve complaints.Ahead of Diwali and other festivals, he directed officials to step up sanitation, remove construction and demolition waste, undertake road patchwork and ensure adequate street lighting.Kothari said sanitation should go beyond road sweeping and focus on keeping public spaces clean and organised. Weekly ward-wise cleanliness drives will also be held.Deputy commissioner, Sanganer zone, Manmohan Sharma said one ward with the highest sanitation needs in each zone would be identified under the campaign. These wards will receive 50% additional manpower and machinery to address gaps and be developed as model clean wards.Kothari asked officials to remain active in the field and immediately address shortcomings found during inspections. He also urged elected representatives and officials to work together to improve civic services.Box: HC seeks affidavit on Birla Mandir-area cleanlinessJaipur: Rajasthan High Court has directed Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) and state govt to file affidavits on sanitation arrangements in Ganesh Nagar and Tilak Nagar, behind Birla Mandir.A division bench of Justice Sanjay K Agrawal and Justice Inderjeet Singh passed the order on Sept 24 while hearing a contempt petition filed by advocate Vimal Chaudhary.The petitioner’s counsel said the court had issued 16 directions in 2012 for improving the city’s sanitation system, but they had not been effectively implemented.The petitioner alleged that regular cleaning was not being carried out in the two colonies, resulting in poor sanitation. The court sought the authorities’ response on the arrangements in place.
