Agartala: TIPRA Motha has given police 24 hours to arrest those accused of shooting a party candidate and two supporters during the Village Committee elections in Gomati district on Monday.A delegation led by party MLA Ranjit Debbarma and Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) chief executive member Runiel Debbarma met State Election Commission secretary Anurag Sen and submitted a memorandum seeking immediate action in the incident.“We have formally demanded the arrest of the suspects within the next 24 hours. If no action is taken, we will decide our next steps,” Debbarma told the media after meeting the SEC secretary.According to the memorandum, TIPRA Motha candidate Khachindra Reang (36) and party supporters Naithok Jamatia (26) and Udairam Reang (40) were allegedly attacked by armed men at Warengbari Ward No. 2 while polling was under way.The party said Reang suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, while Udairam was shot in the leg. Both were shifted to Agartala for treatment. Reang’s condition remains critical, the party said.
