Mumbai: A proposal amending the Maharashtra Logistics Park Policy, 2024, brought before the state cabinet, was withdrawn after ministers pointed out that there was an incentive bias for certain regions of the state.The amendments proposed were about granting 100% stamp duty waiver in certain regions and 75% in others, capital incentive for infrastructure projects in these parks, no limit on the number of logistics parks that could be set up in a district and changes in the state committee.Cabinet ministers were furious that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune and Nashik were being given better incentives as compared to Konkan and other regions. They argued that all regions must be equally promoted. Finally, there was a demand that the proposal be withdrawn, which was done.The objective of the 2024 policy is to develop more than 10,000 acres of dedicated logistics infrastructure, attract investments of Rs 30,000 crore and generate five lakh new job opportunities by 2029.Among the key highlights of the logistics master plan is to develop one international and one national logistics hub, five state and five regional logistics hubs and 25 district logistics nodes. The incentives included capital incentives, critical infrastructure support, additional floor space index, support to green logistics, power at industrial rate, relaxation in zonal restrictions and other incentives. The incentives for MSMEs involved in storage and cargo handling units were interest subsidy, stamp duty exemptions and technology upgradation assistance.
