Two held, smack worth ₹30L seized in separate ops in Jhalawar

Kota: In a continued crackdown on illegal narcotics, Jhalawar police arrested two alleged drug peddlers in separate operations and seized smack worth over Rs 30 lakh, officials said on Wednesday.According to Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, the action was carried out under special operation targeting organised crime and illegal drug trade, including purchase, sale, transport and distribution of narcotic substances.In the first case, Kotwali police Wednesday arrested a 24-year-old woman, Ravina, while she was allegedly trafficking smack. The police seized 179.20 grams of smack from her possession estimated to have an international market value of around Rs 30 lakh. Police registered a case under the NDPS Act and an investigation is underway.In a separate case, Bhawanimandi police Thursday arrested a Irfan (40) for allegedly possessing and selling smack. Police recovered 0.60 grams of smack from his possession. Officials said the accused was involved in retail distribution of the drug and sold them in small sachets in residential areas. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and efforts are underway to identify other members of the network, police said.
