Lucknow: A 65-year-old man died and three members of a family were rescued after rain-triggered structural collapses caused death, injuries and widespread damage across Lucknow and its outskirts on Saturday.Several houses and structures were damaged in rain-related incidents, while uprooted trees disrupted traffic and posed risks to residents and commuters.The fatal incident occurred around 2 pm in Bhauli village under BKT police station limits, where Bajrangi Yadav (65) died after the roof of an old house collapsed.He was buried under the debris and died on the spot.In a separate incident, a rain-weakened wall of a house collapsed around 1.10 am in Chaina village under Rahimabad police station, trapping three members of a family.The victims were identified as Suresh (50), his daughter Saloni (20), and son Rajneesh (24). Police personnel, assisted by residents, rescued all three and shifted them to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Malihabad.Heavy rain also damaged other vulnerable structures in the Rahimabad area.A house in Bhatoiya village collapsed, damaging household belongings, while other houses reportedly caved in at Mankauti village amid strong winds and heavy rain. No casualties were reported in these incidents.In another rain-related mishap, a tree branch fell on an ABC power line in a rural area, disrupting electricity supply.Near the Marine Drive underpass in Gomtinagar, a motorcyclist lost balance and fell during heavy rainfall.In Thakurganj’s Manju Tandon Dhal area, a wall of Kalyangiri Temple collapsed, causing minor injuries to a man.In Indiranagar, occupants of a car sustained injuries after a tree fell on their vehicle. A similar incident was reported in the Telibagh area.Police and administrative teams continued to respond to distress calls and inspect affected locations throughout the day.Part of homeopathic dispensary building collapsesLucknow: A portion of the roof of a nearly century-old homoeopathic dispensary building in Kaiserbagh collapsed during heavy rain on Saturday, raising concerns over the safety of patients and staff.No injuries were reported as the room where the roof collapsed was unoccupied at the time of the incident.The building has housed the dispensary since it was allotted to Govt National Homeopathic College in 1997 and caters to a large number of outpatients every day.The offices of District Homeopathic Medical Officer and Chief Medical Superintendent, Lucknow Division, also function from the same premises.In addition, the building houses the offices of Provincial Homeopathic Medical Service Association and Uttar Pradesh Govt Homeopathic Pharmacy Service Association.
