Jaipur: A viral video that appeared to show a candidate recording the question paper and OMR sheet during the Rajasthan Public Service Commission’s (RPSC) Sub-Inspector/Platoon Commander Combined Competitive Re-Examination, 2021, was actually recorded during a mock RAS test conducted at the same exam centre a day later, police said Sunday.The video had raised questions over the conduct of the Sept 20 re-examination. It showed a candidate recording the whiteboard inside an examination room, along with a question paper and OMR sheet, on a mobile phone. The whiteboard also displayed exam centre code 16-0253 and roll number series.Police said a preliminary investigation found the footage was recorded on Sept 21, when a private coaching centre held a mock RAS examination in Basement-A of Kalyan Public Senior Secondary School at 78-79, Ganga Vihar Colony, near Arjun Nagar railway underpass in Mahesh Nagar.The school had an agreement with the coaching centre to conduct mock tests for competitive exams. RPSC re-examination had been held at the school on Sept 20. The next day, the centre held the mock RAS test at the same premises.Police found that the school administration had not removed the RPSC examination details written on the whiteboard after the Sept 20 examination. The centre code, examination name and roll number series therefore remained visible when the mock test was conducted.The investigation also established that the person seen recording the video had not appeared for RPSC re-examination at the centre. He had instead appeared for the mock RAS test conducted by the centre on Sept 21, police said.The inquiry began after a zero-number FIR registered at Civil Lines police station in Ajmer was transferred to Mahesh Nagar police station. Police registered a case on Friday under the Rajasthan Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2022.City police initiated the probe and a team was formed to trace the person who allegedly uploaded the video.
