Gurgaon: Bulldozers rolled into Budhera village on Thursday as GMDA, joined by the crime branch and district police, demolished illegal constructions linked to a local land mafia.The action targeted an unauthorised property on agricultural land allegedly being used as an office. The structure comprised around five rooms, a kitchen and a separate toilet block, all constructed without approvals. Officials said the property is linked to Narender alias ‘Pavva’, son of Kamal Singh, who has multiple criminal cases registered against him.According to GMDA, the demolition was carried out under Section 12(2) of the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Act, 1963, which prohibits construction in controlled areas without permission from the authority.The drive was led by GMDA’s nodal officer for encroachments and district town planner RS Batth, with officials from the enforcement wing. About 100 police personnel stood guard.“We are committed to strict enforcement of development regulations, and any attempt to encroach upon govt land or carry out unauthorised construction will be dealt with firmly. Drives are being conducted regularly, and we will continue to dismantle illegal structures raised by land mafias. Our priority is to safeguard public land and ensure planned urban development,” Batth said.Officials said the authority has already freed govt land worth crores of rupees from illegal encroachments over the past few weeks.Earlier, in a similar operation in Tajnagar village of Farukhnagar tehsil by GMDA, a double-storey house spread across nearly 350 square yards was demolished. The structure, comprising seven rooms, was allegedly built by Ravinder Singh alias ‘Sarkar’ without approvals. Police said he is associated with the Lipin Nehra gang and has multiple cases registered against him.
