Surat: The suicide of another resident doctor at Government Medical College (GMC), Surat, within 45 days has brought the death of Dr Harsh Pandya back into focus, with all four doctors accused in the case still not arrested.Dr Dishita Ghevariya, Dr Anuj Maheshwari, Dr Hina Bhut and Dr Nirali Vasave, who have been accused in connection with Pandya’s death, are yet to be arrested, even 45 days after the incident.ACP Z R Desai, the investigating officer, told TOI, “We have submitted a report to the court seeking to have all four accused declared absconders. If they fail to appear before us within 30 days after the court declares them absconding, we may initiate proceedings to attach their properties.”Dr Pandya, a first-year resident in the microbiology department, died by suicide on Aug 9 following an alleged incident of ragging involving the four accused doctors. All four accused are second-year residents of the same department.A case was registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after Pandya’s father lodged a complaint on Aug 15.
